Description
Interested in engaging students in conversations around religion, spirituality, and belonging? Unsure where to begin? Join i3b as we test a new model for engaging in this conversation and exploration of religion, faith, and spirituality at UMBC, called FaithZone. In the same vein of similarly-named training models(Safe Zone and Dream Zone), FaithZone will help equip students, staff, and faculty with skills and awareness to engage in conversations connected to religion and spirituality.
This session will include a brief overview of the national landscape of religious practice and spirituality on college campuses, encourage storytelling and connection through the lived experience of participants, provide an opportunity to learn and discuss best practices, and introduce participants to resources and opportunities to engage further with this topic and the UMBC community. Participants will be asked to reflect on their own relationship to religion and/or spirituality and learn about subtle (and major) ways that these identity markers connect to student well-being and belonging.
