i3b and the Theater Department Are Looking for YOU!

Every year during Welcome Week, UMBC hosts a diversity session that introduces new students to our UMBC value of inclusive excellence. This year, we want to include YOU! 

Initiatives for Identity, Inclusion & Belonging and the Theater Department, are looking for up to15 students who are interested in sharing their unique stories and lived experiences with building community across difference at UMBC  through monologues, spoken word, or other mediums with incoming students. Don't worry, you don't have to be a theater major, we will work with you. As a part of this new "social justice ARTivism" initiative, students will participate in a paid week-long workshop focused on deepening their personal social identity awareness, building cultural storytelling skills, practicing performance and monologue delivery, and developing a deeper understanding of building community across difference. Participating students will have the opportunity to record and deliver their stories to incoming students during Welcome Week 2022.
